At Wooddell & Passaro Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry, our goal is always to provide the highest standard of care possible. In pursuit of this goal, Drs. James Wooddell and Joseph Passaro have been early adopters of digital dental technology. Digital technology improves our ability to accurately diagnose and treat your dental complaints, and is more convenient than traditional techniques.
Panoramic X-Rays
Our office is proud to use the Kodak 9000 extra-oral imaging system. This equipment allows us to produce high-quality panoramic x-rays quickly and easily. The panoramic x-ray gives us a broad image of the entire mouth, and can provide information about the teeth, jaws, and other hard and soft tissues of the head and neck that can play a role in your dental health. This non-invasive system is particularly useful for diagnosing impacted teeth, such as wisdom teeth, identifying conditions such as a fractured jaw that might make traditional imaging painful, and for those with a sensitive gag reflex that cannot tolerate more invasive diagnostics.
Cone Beam CT Scans
Cone Beam CT scans, or CBCT, are another sort of digital x-ray. These images are also produced using the Kodak 9000 system. Unlike the usual flat image you are probably use to from an x-ray, CBCT produces a 3-D image of a precise section of your mouth and jaw in just 19 seconds. The image is dimensionally accurate, and can be analyzed using any of five different software programs. Each program is slightly different, and which one we choose depends on the patient. 3-D CBCT scans can tell us a lot more than traditional x-rays. In multiple cases, the 3-D scan has readily revealed a problem that would have been hard or even impossible to spot in a conventional radiograph.
Even better, the digital images are more flexible than traditional images. We can easily store them with your file for quick recall, or send them to a specialist if needed. We can even magnify these images to see specific spots in detail, without needing to take additional x-rays or scans.
Digital Implant Placement
Three of our CBCT software programs allow us to digitally plan your treatment process. Using CAD/CAM techniques, we can digitally place implants and fabricate surgical templates, producing beautiful, precise results without in-person trial and error. This means that Drs. Wooddell and Passaro can deliver a quicker, more comfortable treatment that should look and feel better than ever before.
