Our dental care team is dedicated to helping patients maintain their oral health for a lifetime, and that includes making every effort to preserve the natural teeth and tooth structure when treating a dental problem or restoring your smile. From tooth bonding to dental crowns, we will use all possible treatment options to save a natural tooth if an extraction can be avoided.
We’re pleased to share that Dr. Marc Eun is now performing root canals in our Davidsonville dentist office. Previously, this treatment was referred out – but with Dr. Eun’s advanced training and experience in endodontics, you can now receive comprehensive care without leaving the practice you know and trust.
A root canal can save an infected or severely decayed tooth, relieving pain and restoring oral health. Although it has earned a reputation for being a treatment that often makes patients feel anxious, thanks to many advances in dental technique and materials, it is typically no more uncomfortable than a dental filling. In many cases, once the infection has been removed from the interior chamber of the tooth, patients experience relief from discomfort or pain. With today’s techniques and Dr. Eun’s gentle approach, the procedure is comfortable, efficient, and highly effective.
Why choose in-office root canal treatment with Dr. Eun?
- No outside referrals—everything is done in one place
- Consistent care from your existing dental team
- Timely treatment and follow-up

Root Canals: What to Expect
A root canal is recommended when it is determined that the interior of the tooth is too damaged to treat with a filling, but the exterior structure can be saved. Signs you may need a root canal can include changes in a tooth’s shade or color, new sensitivity to hot and cold, or sudden pain or pressure in or around a tooth. We will perform x-rays to determine the condition of the tooth before recommending treatment.
The root canal procedure itself is often completed in a single visit using a local anesthetic for your comfort. Dr. Eun will create a tiny hole in the back of the tooth. The infected tooth pulp will be carefully removed, and the interior pulp chamber will be cleaned out. A biocompatible material is placed back into the space and then sealed to prevent future infection.
In many cases, the subsequent placement of a dental crown is recommended to improve the structural integrity of the tooth and support a lasting result.
