At Wooddell and Passaro, we take a comprehensive approach to your oral health in an effort to help you avoid the effects of complex dental problems. A professional tooth cleaning is an important part of your routine dental care in our Annapolis area office.
The long term maintenance of a healthy and comfortable smile depends on routine care both in the dentist chair and at home. During your exam and cleaning, we look for the early signs of tooth decay, gum disease and other health concerns that can have oral symptoms, including oral cancers. When you visit with us twice a year, we monitor your oral health and can work with you on a personal level to reduce the impact of your unique risk factors for dental concerns.
Dental cleanings are relatively easy and painless procedures and most patients enjoy the fresh, clean feeling after as well as knowing that they are supporting their long term oral health.

Dental Cleaning What to Expect
After a thorough examination of the teeth, gums and jaw joints your dental hygienist will clean all surfaces of the teeth and along the gum line to remove plaque and tartar. A fluoride varnish will be applied directly to the surface of the teeth before you leave the office to support healthy tooth enamel. To avoid tooth decay in the larger teeth, or back molars, we also offer dental sealants. Sealants may be recommended for patients who are more susceptible to cavities due to the enamel erosion, porous teeth or other risk factors.
If we have noticed any decay, gum disease or signs of a developing dental concern, we will discuss our findings with you and recommend appropriate treatment. Our goal is to help you maintain a healthy smile for a lifetime.
