Are Dental Implants Right For You?

Do you often find yourself covering your smile because of a missing tooth or teeth? Improve your confidence with dental implants. Dental implants restore teeth with strong and durable titanium for long-lasting permanent results. But why is it important to fill in the gap left by missing teeth?

What is the Purpose of Dental Implants?

Dental implants act like tooth roots for missing teeth. They fill the gap left by a tooth and keep medical conditions that often arise from missing teeth at bay. If a missing tooth is not replaced, dental problems can develop, such as:

  • Tooth crowding
  • Difficulty chewing
  • Irregular bite
  • Bone loss

Non-dental problems may also develop, as a missing tooth or teeth can affect speech, not to mention self-confidence. Dental implants may fix these problems and can prevent them from happening in the first place.

Benefits of Dental Implants

After a dental implant procedure, you may find that implants offer you many advantages:

  • Improved speech
  • Durability
  • Comfort
  • Biting and chewing is easier
  • Better oral health
  • Implants look and act like natural teeth

If you have a missing tooth or teeth and have noticed problems chewing or an irregular bite, you may be eligible for dental implants.

The Dental Implant Procedure

Drs. Wooddell & Passaro offer patients optimal care and comfort during the dental implant process. First, CBCT scanning is used to determine implant placement. Factors like jaw structure and the position of existing teeth are taken into account before the implant procedure.

For the procedure, a titanium post is inserted into the jawbone and covered with a temporary crown. After 3 to 6 months, an abutment is placed for added support and the permanent crown is secured. The 3 to 6 month waiting period is to ensure that soft tissues are allowed time to heal and bone is allowed to integrate with the titanium post.
