Dentures and Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance for missing teeth and surrounding tissue, designed to closely resemble your natural teeth.

There are two types of dentures. Full dentures are used when all the teeth are missing and partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A flesh colored acrylic base fits over your gums with full dentures. Partial dentures bond to a metal framework that attaches to your natural teeth and are a removable alternative to a dental bridge.

There are conventional full dentures, which are placed after any remaining teeth are removed and the gum tissues is completely healed. Immediate full dentures can be inserted immediately after remaining teeth are removed so that you don’t have to be without teeth. The dentures will need to be adjusted as your gum tissue and bone beneath reshape as they heal.
