Composite, or bonded, fillings have become the standard material for fillings today. Consisting of a resin with microscopic glass beads suspended in it, composite sets very quickly when exposed to blue light. Composite bonds to tooth structure, optimally enamel. It has a wear resistance that approaches the older silver amalgam fillings, which can last more than 20 years.
